- I sailed a few times in my early 20s but it wasn't until I moved back to California (having moved away with my family when I was a kid) that I actually LEARNED how to sail. I took a two weekend "basic keelboat" class and I was hooked. I went to a local yacht club for weeknight beercan races. There I met my husband and we have been boating together ever since. If you had asked me when I was first learning to sail if I would one day be Commodore of a Yacht Club or sail to Hawaii I probably would have laughed at the idea. I'm proud I made it through my Commodore year (2009) and sailed in the Pacific Cup in 2010! Now we have a trawler that we cruise in the San Francisco Bay and the Sacramento and San Joaquin River Deltas.

Looks like ya'll have been having a great time at the "secret" place! I hear paddle boarding is great exercise too!
Yes, does look like fun! Unfortunately, an episode of "Breaking Bad" that I watched recently caused the mention of a turtle to bring to my mind the image of the tortoise on whose back the Mexican drug cartel had mounted a severed head. When one of the DEA guys casually grabs the victim's hair to pull the head off the tortoise the "IED" blows up and kills one agent, takes off the lower leg of another, and injures three more (if I remember correctly). Only one of many rather scary images from "Breaking Bad," which I must say is a fascinating TV program. Also—you may find hard to believe from the foregoing—very funny, if you like black humor of the sort you swish around in your mouth to taste but then spit out without swallowing.
